Survey two cataclysmic events of the twentieth century, the Great Depression and World War II and the transforming effects both had on the United States. Review the Great Crash, the economic collapse, New Deal reforms, and the military triumph over totalitarianism. Focus on how the experiences of both leaders and average citizens in dealing with these crises changed the nation's outlook on politics, society and the world around us as we developed into a world superpower and entered the Atomic Age.
