For as long as there has been civilization, there has been military conflict. And as long as there has been military conflict, there have been military commanders. Only a handful of these commanders, however, have become regarded as great. Explore why, defining what it means to be a “great commander” and identifying ten of these influential leaders from ancient times to the 19th century who continue to resonate in modern military thought.
