« back to classes page
In 1692, something strange and scary was happening in Salem, Massachusetts. Young girls were seized with startling fits, screams and contortions. Was it psychosis? Was it disease? Was it…witchcraft? Today, “witch-hunt” is a term often invoked as a metaphor for unfair persecution. In 17th-century Salem, the hunt was for actual witches, resulting in the death of 19 people. Explore this dark period of American history when hysteria prevailed.
