An understanding of how and why some individuals develop a dependence on substances, while others do not, is an essential prerequisite to ultimately helping those same individuals. This introductory course will provide a bird’s-eye view of theoretical models of how an addiction develops. Explore the neurobiology of several commonly abused substances. 3.5 clock hours.
