The Bench Beside You: A Community Conversation for Those Impacted by Breast Cancer

Course number : PDE-005    Section Number : A2

« back to classes page
A breast cancer diagnosis can bring uncertainty, fear, and questions. Not only for the person diagnosed, but also for the family members, friends, colleagues, and caregivers walking beside them.

The Bench Beside You is a welcoming community conversation designed for individuals who are new to the breast cancer journey and those supporting them. Through an honest and compassionate panel discussion, breast cancer survivors and the people who have supported loved ones through diagnosis and treatment will share their lived experiences, lessons learned, and perspectives on navigating the journey.

Panelists will reflect on what they wish they had known at the beginning, what helped them through difficult moments, how relationships and support systems can make a difference, and where they found encouragement along the way. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions, connect with others, and learn about resources available within the community.

Whether you are facing a diagnosis yourself or sitting beside someone you care about, this conversation is intended to replace some of the uncertainty of the unknown with understanding, connection, and hope. Sometimes the most meaningful support begins simply by knowing that you do not have to sit on the bench alone.

Light refreshments and community resource information will be available. This program is educational and supportive in nature and is not intended to provide medical advice or replace guidance from healthcare professionals.
